How to calculate total gross pay
One flat overtime multiplier is applied to the overtime hours only. Double-time bands, daily thresholds, shift differentials and weekly averaging rules vary by jurisdiction and employer and are not modeled.
Worked example
Overtime pay calculator example
At $24 per hour, 40 regular hours pay $960 and 8 overtime hours at 1.5× pay $288, for $1,248 gross.
Change one assumption at a time to see what drives the result. The output is an estimate, not a quote, forecast or recommendation.
FAQ
Overtime pay calculator FAQ
Is this take-home pay?
No. The result is gross pay before tax, insurance and any other deduction.
How do I model double time?
Run the double-time hours as a separate calculation with a 2.0 multiplier and add the two results.
Which hours count as overtime?
That depends on local law and your contract. Enter the hours already classified as overtime rather than expecting the calculator to classify them.
